FSHN GSA Role
Vice-President
Co-Chair of Graduate Recruitment
Who are you and what’s your research about?
Karson is a second-year grad student pursuing her Master’s degree under Drs. Miller and Jin. She graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Wisconsin Lutheran College. She is studying enzymes that can prevent the growth of Listeria monocytogenes, a common foodborne pathogen, in fresh cheese. The goal is to use biochemistry and genetic tools to improve the safety of foods like queso fresco!
Karson loves people, wandering, laughing with her husband, bread, Milwaukee, and learning new things 🙂
Why is the FSHN GSA important to you?
The FSHN GSA is important to me because it has the potential to really bring people together. I am hoping that this group gives us opportunities to make memories with our peers and support each other. Organizing opportunities for people to build connections is the best thing we can do as a GSA because people are ALWAYS the most important part of the workplace.
