Who are you and what’s your research about?
Jayita is a second-year Ph.D. student from India. She received her B.S and M.S in Plant Sciences (Botany) from University of Calcutta, India.
Presently, she is engaged in her doctoral studies, majoring in Food Science, and her research focuses on exploring the interplay between food-borne pathogens and microplastics, particularly in terms of antibiotic resistance gene expression. The findings hold implications for food safety and public health, offering insights into strategies to address risks associated with these interactions in the food supply chain.
She likes painting, cooking and traveling.
Why is the FSHN GSA important to you?
FSHN GSA is pivotal in nurturing a community spirit, promoting collaboration, diversity and facilitating professional development among students within a department.
Graduate students in the department can have a much better overall academic and professional experience with an engaged Food Science & Human Nutrition Graduate Student Association. This is accomplished by encouraging teamwork, providing chances for professional growth, and fostering a caring community.
