FSHN GSA Role

Who are you and what’s your research about?
I am a second-year Ph.D. candidate in Food Science under the advisement of Dr. Matthew Stasiewicz. Previously, I completed my Bachelor’s in Food Science with a minor in Microbiology at Penn State University. I also worked for two years in industry as a food safety scientist. I am motivated to do research that makes a genuine impact on the food industry, which is exactly why I chose to study food safety! Beyond academics, I love running, doing yoga, trying new restaurants, and playing with my dog, Bella!

Why is the FSHN GSA important to you?
The FSHN GSA is important to me because our department is spread out across four buildings, making it easy to become siloed from one another. I hope that the GSA can become a place of community for our graduate students, beyond just growing our professional networks. There’s unity in community!
